Mariel Quevedo is a Senior Geotechnical Engineer based in Knight Piésold’s Denver office. She has more than 20 years of government and consultancy experience, with expertise spanning geotechnical engineering, dam safety inspection and risk analysis, laboratory testing, field exploration, and project management.
Prior to joining Knight Piésold, she was a geotechnical engineer at the Bureau of Reclamation (U.S. Department of the Interior), where she completed various geotechnical analyses for the solution of a wide variety of challenges relating to the design, construction, operation, and rehabilitation of embankment dams and reservoirs and various concrete and underground structures, as well as canals and levees. She also has prior consultancy experience, managing various geotechnical assignments relating to earth and rockfill dams, dry stack mine facilities, tailings facilities, stormwater collection ponds, seepage collection and evaporation ponds, and low- and high-rise structures.
She graduated cum laude from the University of Missouri-Rolla (now the Missouri University of Science and Technology) with a master’s degree in geotechnical engineering. She earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Puerto Rico.
