Ohveshlan Pillay is a Senior Rock Engineer based in Knight Piésold’s Pretoria office. He has over 11 years of experience in mining geotechnical site investigation programs, numerical modelling and in providing rock mechanics solutions to open pit and underground mining projects from greenfield to the design phase. His expertise includes geotechnical data collection and review, probabilistic and risk-based slope design, geotechnical slope management programme review and assistance, prefeasibility, feasibility and due diligence projects.
He has provided specialist mining geotechnical/rock engineering services for numerous mining projects throughout Africa, the Middle East, and South America. Ohveshlan is a member of the South African National Institute of Rock Engineers and the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and has an MSc (Eng) degree in mining engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand.
Recent assignments include the geotechnical data consolidation and analysis for the Suhanko Platinum Project in Finland and a slope failure investigation and mitigative option study for a copper mine in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
