The Cerro Moro Project belongs to Estelar Resources, a subsidiary of the Canadian company Extorre Gold Mines, and is located 50 miles (80 km) southwest of Puerto Deseado, province of Santa Cruz, Argentina. The project has a series of epithermal gold and high grade silver deposits.
Knight Piésold was engaged to develop the tailing storage facility (TSF) detail engineering, which included drafting all documentation needed to begin the bid for the TSF construction; contemplating various construction aspects; drafting a project execution plan (PEP); estimating the CAPEX-OPEX; and making a detailed construction Gantt diagram.
The general objective is to develop the technical documentation, including defining all the technical aspects of the completed works, the materials to be used, and the procedures for monitoring and controlling the execution. This allows the client, on the one hand, to participate in the bidding and hiring processes with well-defined and determined costs and execution and control procedures, and, on the other hand, to provide the contractor with construction engineering that makes every operation related to the work execution predictable and controllable.
