About the Job:

The Hydromechanical Engineering Leader will manage the group of water and mechanical engineers. This position will focus on hydromechanical and water-related technical analyses and modeling, including surface water management, water balance, dam breach studies, and design, construction and commissioning of pumping & piping, hydraulic and conveyance systems.

Responsibilities:

• Direct, lead and coordinate the work for the hydromechanical and water disciplines providing guidance, mentorship and performance feedback to ensure quality deliverables.
• Apply and present a demonstrated knowledge of water resources/civil  and/or hydromechanical engineering to develop safe, economical, and innovative solutions to water and hydromechanical management issues.
• Complete surface water related technical analyses and modeling, including but not limited to: climatic, hydrologic, hydraulic, sediment yield and transport, water balance, and dam breach evaluations (if experience is related to hydraulic engineering).
• Complete hydromechanical analyses and modeling, including but not limited to: hydraulic, process and mechanical design of pumping systems; review/prepare project calculations, detailed specifications, data sheets, P&IDs, and schematics; prepare design criteria; assist/perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimates; and prepare control philosophy documents (if experience is related to mechanical engineering).
• Direct, oversee, and review technical analyses, calculations, and modeling by less experienced staff.
• Be responsible for the development of civil designs of water management infrastructure and/or mechanical designs for hydromechanical systems.
• Conduct technical and proposal writing and document preparation.
• Conduct site visits for inspections and meetings. This will include travel to domestic and international destinations.
• Coordinate technical work within the local team, several disciplines and groups.
• Communicate with other office leaders throughout the KP global group and help convey and facilitate the design requirements.

Requirements:

• B.S. and/or M.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with academic specialization and or experience in Water or Pumping and Piping.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English.
• More than 10 years of work experience. Experience in the mining industry is preferred.
• Strong background in team leadership and people management.
• A robust understanding of, and personal experience with, the following software packages is preferred – FLO-2D, GoldSim, HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS (if experience is related to hydraulic engineering); AUTOPipe, Fathom, AutoCAD Plant 3D, SolidWorks, Revit, Navisworks, Inventor or similar (if experience is related to mechanical engineering).
• Proven experience and ability for project/client management.
• Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated capability to work cooperatively within multidisciplinary teams.
