The Role

We are seeking mid level Geotechnical Engineers to join our tailings team in Brisbane, Queensland. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated experience in tailings dam design with knowledge of the design principals for upstream & downstream embankment dams, concrete faced and geomembrane lined rockfill dams, spillways and water management systems. You will hold a bachelor’s degree in civil/geotechnical/geo-environmental engineering with a minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience preferable from a consulting environment. A mix of design office and site-based experience would be considered favourably.

Please note this role is based in our Brisbane Office therefore relocation assistance will be offered to the successful candidate.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with the planning, execution and acquisition of quality field data and when appropriate the analysis of this geotechnical data including geotechnical logging and mapping.
• Compilation and presentation of field investigation results for input, which leads to the creation of design parameters.
• Ensure specifications, design and analysis meet client requirements.

Other key areas of responsibility can include:

• Open pit stability and slope Stability;
• Design and construction of Structures like tailings dam and retaining walls;
• Soil liquefaction;
• Ground improvement;
• Site investigations and advanced in-situ testing;
• Earthworks and QA/QC;
• Laboratory testing;
• Numerical modeling and analysis.

Our Ideal Candidate

The successful candidates will ideally have:

• Degree qualification in Engineering with either Geotechnical or Civil specialisations;
• Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience within the mining industry and experience with earth fill dam construction;
• An understanding in technical aspects of geotechnical investigations, civil/geotechnical designs, documentation and civil/geotechnical projects;
• Excellent communication and reporting skills;
• A proven track record on site project management and client liaison and able to demonstrate ability to maintain relationships with stakeholders;
• Familiarity with use of Slope/W, Plaxis, Flac and AutoCad software will have added advantages;
• A commitment to travel internationally to a project site if required.
