About this Position
As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer you will be working with multi-disciplinary project teams to support our clients in Canada and around the world. An ideal candidate must be interested and flexible to work in the mining, hydropower, and/or water infrastructure sectors. The position may include domestic and international travel to support projects and client needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead geotechnical aspects of projects, including scope, budget, and schedule
- Plan, oversee, and interpret geotechnical site investigations and lab testing
- Review geological models and geotechnical design parameters
- Perform and review advanced analyses (stability, settlement, bearing, liquefaction, etc.)
- Design foundations, slopes, retaining structures, excavations, and ground improvement
- Prepare and sign off on geotechnical reports, calculations, and recommendations
- Identify geotechnical risks and propose mitigation/monitoring strategies.
- Support construction with site visits, requests for information, submittal reviews, and instrumentation assessment.
- Provide technical leadership and peer review of geotechnical deliverables.
- Mentor junior staff and support client relations and proposal development
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in geological or civil engineering, A graduate degree with a specialization in geotechnical engineering is considered an asset.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario or other Canadian province or territory
- A strong technical design background in geotechnical analyses and project management experience.
- A minimum of 10 years of applicable engineering experience, specifically related to mining and/or infrastructure project development. Work experience should include:
- Geotechnical investigations and reporting
- Geotechnical analyses and foundation assessments
- Tailings and water management feasibility studies, design, and operational support
- Dam and embankment design, analyses, and monitoring
- Construction material evaluations
- Civil/earthworks construction monitoring and project management
- Preparation of design reports, drawings, and technical specifications
We place an emphasis on developing practical solutions to meet the needs of our clients, and preference will be given to individuals with excellent communication and interpersonal skills in addition to strong technical competence.
Pay and Benefits
The estimated base pay range for this position is $115,000 to $150,000 CAD. Variations in salary offered will be dependent on relevant knowledge, experience, and skill level. KP’s total compensation and benefits also include the following:
