August 3, 2023, Lima, Peru – Knight Piésold Peru engaged with the Ecuadorian and international mining community at the XVI Expo Conference Expominas 2023, one of the largest mining conferences in Ecuador. More than 5,200 professionals gathered at the conference, which took place at the Metropolitan Convention Center in Quito, from July 12 to 14.

The three-day conference brought together over 400 companies from 16 countries to explore investment and development opportunities, with a focus on fostering strategic alliances and synergies for the sustainable development of mining in Ecuador.

Fanny Herrera, Senior Geotechnical Engineer at Knight Piésold Peru, delivered the presentation, “Some challenges in the design and management of tailings dams: How we adapt to the advancement of knowledge and technology,” providing an overview of state-of-the-art tailings dam design and management. Herrera also spoke of the key stakeholders that must be involved in the dissemination of knowledge and the implementation of technology.

In addition, Environmental Manager Francisco García and Engineering Project Manager Elio Murrugarra joined Herrera at Knight Piésold Peru’s bespoke booth at the exhibit hall. The team connected with clients, suppliers, and peers, strengthening ties and forging new business relationships. Discussions focused on Knight Piésold’s history globally and in Peru, project experience in Ecuador and the region, and areas of expertise directed for the Ecuadorian market.
