June 2, 2017, Lima, Peru – Knight Piésold Peru has appointed Francisco García as its new environmental manager. Francisco stepped into the role to succeed Claudia Sandoval, who has assumed new responsibilities on the client-side.
Francisco, an environmental engineer, has thirteen years of experience in environmental management for the mining, power, and transportation industries. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree (first honor) in environmental engineering from the Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina, followed by post-graduate studies in quality management and environmental auditing.
He joined Knight Piésold in 2007 and most recently, worked as a project manager developing environmental impact studies for mining projects. Over the years, he has successfully completed environmental impact studies for several mining projects, including La Zanja, Tantahuatay, Orcopampa, Conga, Chucapaca, and Callao (mineral concentrate storage facility), that had received approval from regulators. He has also developed environmental and social baseline studies for port facilities of the Conga project, including Quechua and Puerto Salaverry projects.
His involvement in the Quellaveco project was one of his most significant work during the last four years. He managed a range of aspects, including environmental and biological monitoring for port areas, operations, and water supply; technical reporting; modifying the environmental impact study; and updating the closure plan.
“We appreciate the significant contributions that Claudia has made over the past five years and for ensuring continuity during the transition period,” said General Manager Mario Villavisencio. “Since joining the company 10 years ago, Francisco has become a valuable member of the environmental group, with his hands-on approach to project management and client relations. He is well-positioned to lead the group, and we trust that he will continue to thrive in this new role and deliver quality services going forward.”
