September 12, 2012, Johannesburg, South Africa – Knight Piésold received outstanding recognition on August 17th at the 2011 CESA (Consulting Engineers South Africa) Aon Engineering Excellence Awards. The CESA Engineering Excellence Awards considers itself “a celebration of innovation, quality, outstanding workmanship and professionalism in the industry” and “a platform to showcase the important role that infrastructure plays in the sustainable development.”
Knight Piésold is proud to have received recognition for its role on both the Bedford Dam and the Athlone Cooling Towers. The Bedford Dam, part of the Ingula Pumped Storage Scheme entered by the BCJV (Knight Piésold, Gibb and SSI), won the award for Projects with a value greater than R250 million. Furthermore, the Athlone Cooling Towers, entered by Kayad Knight Piésold, received a commendation for Project with a value less than 50 million.
Knight Piésold would like to thank all those who worked hard on these projects to make it a success. Firstly to our JV partners, our valuable employees, consultants, the contractor and Eskom who have dedicated a lot of time and effort not only on the Bedford dam, but the entire Ingula Pumped Storage Scheme as a whole. Kayad Knight Piésold would also like to thank Jet Demolition for their hard work and innovative skills in order to overcome a challenging project, the consultants involved, as well as the client, The City of Cape Town, for all their support in making a success out of the demolition.
