August 9, 2023, London, UK – This year marks a significant milestone in the history of Knight Piésold as it celebrates 10 years since re-establishing in the United Kingdom. Knight Piésold UK opened an office in the heart of the City of London to focus on the mining industry and explore opportunities in the construction and energy industries in Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa.

Knight Piésold UK began with two partners including Director Richard Elmer, and over the past decade, the company has flourished and evolved into a leading consultancy in the region, making a permanent mark on mine waste management as well as open pit and underground mining.

“As I reflect on our journey, I am incredibly proud of how far we have come,” said Elmer. “We have consistently pushed boundaries and embraced innovative practices, setting new standards in the mining industry.”

Specialising in geotechnics, the team has worked with global mining houses, supporting their operating facilities and greenfield projects, from conceptual and feasibility studies through to detailed design, construction supervision, and operational monitoring. The team has undertaken over 300 assignments in more than 60 countries, building relationships with valued clients and partners.

The roots of Knight Piésold in the United Kingdom go all the way back to 1965 when WLPU, the predecessor to Knight Piésold, moved a practice from Southern Africa to London and then to Ashford in 1971. This WLPU practice was acquired by the Scott Wilson Group in 2002, and Knight Piésold was re-established in the United Kingdom in September 2013.

To celebrate the anniversary, the team recently attended a murder mystery themed dinner and spent a night at a scenic manor house in Hertfordshire, which set the stage for an outstanding weekend away.
