Edwin Lillie is a Section Manager for Dams and Hydro at Knight Piésold South Africa. As a dam engineer and water resource specialist, he has been directly involved in several major projects including the Lesotho Highlands Water Project, Ingula Pumped Storage Scheme, Neckartal Dam Project, and Polihali Transfer Tunnel.
Edwin brings a comprehensive understanding of water resource planning, feasibility studies, detailed design, dam safety compliance, and construction supervision. He also serves as an Approved Professional Person in terms of South Africa’s Dam Safety Regulations and is a registered Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (No. 930251).
He holds an MBA from Heriot-Watt University (UK), and an MSc and a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Cape Town (South Africa). His technical expertise is complemented by leadership on multidisciplinary teams for large-scale projects such as the Polihali Transfer Tunnel and several hydroelectric schemes in Zambia and Eswatini.
Edwin is a Fellow of the South African Institution of Civil Engineering, a member of the South African National Committee on Large Dams, and a registered mentor with the Engineering Council of South Africa. His deep commitment to engineering excellence continues to shape sustainable water infrastructure throughout the region.
