Steven McKean

Steven McKean is a Senior Civil Engineer based in Knight Piésold’s Perth office. He has over 15 years of experience working on a variety of projects related to the mining sector in Australia, Southeast Asia, and Africa. He has practiced in a wide spectrum of project activities from desktop studies through to design, contract documentation, site supervision (both contractor management and QA/QC supervision), and ongoing client support (including auditing).

Steve has been involved in numerous greenfield and brownfield mining projects, focusing on the design of mine infrastructure, including tailings storage facilities and water management structures, airstrips, roads, and other earthworks designs. Of particular note in recent years is his role as design manager of the Ity CIL Project from the siting study phase, through to detailed design, construction, and now operation.

Steve is responsible for overseeing construction activities for Knight Piésold Australia and has experience in project management and construction supervision throughout the world. He is a Chartered Civil Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Engineers, Australia (MIEAust).
