Tim Rowles is the Regional Manager (Queensland) of Knight Piésold Australia and is based in the Brisbane office. He has worked for Knight Piésold for over 20 years with extensive experience in engineering and environmental studies for mining and civil projects. His efforts have included studies (concept through to DFS), environmental impact assessments, detailed design, construction, and implementation for waste rock dumps, tailings storage facilities, water dams, heap leach pads, infrastructure, and mine closure.
Tim has project experience across Australia as well as site and design experience on projects located in Africa, Asia, and Europe, including for base metal, precious metal, rare earth, and bulk commodity projects. Tim has a passion for effective design for the management of acid generating materials using his knowledge of geochemistry, geotechnical engineering, and construction efficiencies to provide robust, practical, and cost-effective solutions to minimise the long-term risk from tailings and waste rock.
Tim completed his undergraduate degree at the Royal School of Mines at Imperial College, London, prior to undertaking a master’s degree at the University of Manchester. He is a Chartered Professional with AusIMM (CP) and a Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) in the field of environmental engineering.
