The 20 MW Carhuac Hydroelectric Project is a run-of-river facility on the Macachaca River, a tributary of the Santa Eulalia River. The project diverts flow from a diversion weir, through a 2.8-km-long buried steel penstock to a surface powerhouse in the lower reach of the river, all along the northern slope of the Macachaca River valley. The project is then interconnected to a 60 kV transmission system via a new 60 kV line and interconnecting substation.
Knight Piésold was engaged by Andean Power to act as the owner’s engineer for the project, including all preliminary engineering, project optimization, tender documentation, and review.
