Project Overview
The Cerro Vanguardia Mine is located 150 km northwest of the city of Puerto San Julián, in the Magallanes department of the province of Santa Cruz. This is an extensive operation of more than 50,000 ha in which open pit and underground mining works are carried out simultaneously.
Project Role
Knight Piésold carried out the 10th update of the project’s Environmental Impact Assessment. The update describes the modifications made to the project between 2012 and 2014, in a manner compatible with production objectives and future scheduled work. It also describes the scheduled tasks for the next years, as well as previously evaluated and new impacts. The assessment includes new definitions regarding environmental management and contingency plans, as well as correction or mitigation measure development.
