The objective of the project was to upgrade the existing 7.7 km of Main Road 92 between the Okandjengedi and Ongwediva Bridges to a dual carriage way and to demolish the existing bridges and rebuild them to dual carriage way width. The Ongwediva Bridge (B139) is situated approximately 2 km before the main intersection to Ongwediva. The Okandjengedi Bridge (B138) is situated between Ongwediva and Oshakati just before the start of the old dual carriage way at Oshakati.
Knight Piésold was appointed for detailed engineering design, including surveying; structural and drainage design; cost estimation; construction drawings, technical documents, and contract documents preparation. We were also responsible for the tendering process, adjudication and award of contract, contract management, and site construction supervision. The design phase included an environmental scoping and management plan and geotechnical investigation.
