Project Overview
Umgeni Water appointed Knight Piésold to provide structural condition assessments of 10 existing reservoir structures in the South Coast at Umtwalume, Umzinto, Umkomaas, and Amanzimtoti Water Treatment Works (WW). The following reservoirs entailed the scope of the inspections:
- Umtwalume WW: Reservoir 1 (1 ML), Reservoir 2 (1 ML)
- Umzinto WW: Reservoir 1 (0.9 ML), Reservoir 2 (2.1 ML), Reservoir 3 (2.0 ML)
- Amanzimtoti WW: Reservoir 1 (4.5 ML), Reservoir 2 (4.5 ML), Reservoir 3 (10 ML), Reservoir 4 (15 ML)
- Umkomaas WW: Quarry Reservoir (15 ML)
Project Role
Knight Piésold conducted visual structural inspections for 10 reservoirs and provided conclusions and recommendations for the structural repair and rehabilitation required for continued operation.
Following the South Coast assignment, Knight Piesold was appointed to complete 24 further reservoirs in the North Coast.
