June 22, 2021, Mendoza, Argentina – Knight Piésold Argentina is delighted to be awarded by the Municipality of Godoy Cruz with a Recognition of Environmental Commitment for its exemplary environmental management system (EMS). The award was given during the municipality’s celebration of World Environment Day on June 5, 2021. More than 30 neighborhoods, institutions, companies, and NGOs in the area were recognized for their work in environmental protection and sustainable development and in fighting against climate change.
Knight Piésold was acknowledged for its EMS and for the fact that it has established good environmental practices and implemented corporate social responsibility initiatives with sustainable practices integrated into these. Knight Piésold has an EMS that is certified to ISO 14001 standards, and it has been achieving positive impacts for more than five years, relating to waste segregation, monitoring environmental performance indicators, and other initiatives aimed at caring for the environment.
The celebration was held with the slogan “restoration for the climate” and Tadeo García Zalazar, Mayor of Godoy Cruz said that “this premise has to be made visible.” He continued, “We have chosen institutions that are socially and environmentally responsible, have taken a specific action, or work with recycled inputs to manufacture products, in other cases for the defense of flora, fauna or biodiversity.” Thirty-one trees with low water requirements were planted after the award ceremony in one of the green spaces along the municipality's main bicycle lane.
“Our EMS is part of our integrated management system that we continue to improve on year after year,” said Alejandro Demonte, General Manager of Knight Piésold Argentina. “This is a fundamental part of the company and is at the core of our daily work. This recognition highlights the incredible work that our team does not only for raising our commitment to environmental responsibility but also to quality and health and safety. We value environmental responsibility and sustainability and are continuously working on initiatives to support these.”
