October 20, 2026, Lima, Peru – Rubén Vargas, Engineering Manager at Knight Piésold Peru, participated as a panelist at the 11th RELAVES Peru Congress 2026, one of the mining industry's leading events focused on tailings management. He shared his experience as an Engineer of Record (EoR) for tailings storage facilities (TSFs).

The event, held on October 15–16, 2026, at the Country Club Lima Hotel, provided an important platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences related to the engineering, operation, and safety of TSFs.

On Friday, October 16, Vargas took part in the panel discussion “The Role of the Engineer of Record (EoR): Perspectives, Responsibilities, and Lessons Learned from Minsur’s Experience,” moderated by Jorge Dueñas, Corporate Geotechnical Manager at Minsur.

The discussion addressed the importance of the EoR in the technical management of TSFs, highlighting the role's responsibilities in monitoring facility performance, identifying risks, and strengthening engineering best practices.

Vargas contributed valuable insights based on his professional experience as EoR for the TSFs at the San Rafael Mining Unit and Mina Justa. He also drew on Knight Piésold's extensive experience in developing engineering solutions for the mining industry.

Knight Piésold has been involved in the civil and geotechnical engineering of these TSFs, reflecting the company’s technical expertise and commitment to the responsible management of this critical infrastructure.
