July 18, 2016, Santiago, Chile – Knight Piésold announces the appointment of Regional Manager Mario Lazo for Knight Piésold Chile. “It is an exciting time for Knight Piésold as we welcome our new regional manager,” said André Nieuwenhuizen, Chairman and Chief Financial Officer of the Knight Piésold Group. “Mario is a strong, highly experienced leader and will take the Chilean practice to great heights of success moving forward.”

Mario has a proven track record in the engineering field, having held executive positions for the past 13 years in acclaimed consulting firms. He served as the Chief Executive Officer of Alpina Chile for the last two years prior to joining Knight Piésold and as the General Manager of MWH Chile for eight years following his three-year role as Operations Manager.

A civil hydraulics and construction engineer, Mario has more than 26 years of comprehensive engineering and construction experience in the mining, hydropower, and sanitation industries. He has directed several hydraulic design projects relating to tailings management facilities, water pipeline systems, tailings transport systems, water treatment, and run-of-river hydropower facilities. He has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Chile.

Knight Piésold Chile has strong roots in the country since its Santiago office opened in 1993. It has grown from strength to strength, with a multidisciplinary team of over 50 specialists providing engineering and environmental services to a multitude of mining and energy projects in Chile as well as neighboring countries.

Mario will be continuing the legacy of former General Manager Hernan Andrade and will be focusing on driving growth and expansion in Chilean and international markets.
