September 12, 2016, Accra, Ghana – Knight Piésold announces the appointment of Jeffrey Coffin as the new Regional Manager of Knight Piésold Ghana, effective January 1, 2017. He will succeed Regional Manager Trent Collins, who will complete his three-year commitment to manage the company, focusing on driving the company’s next phase of growth in Ghana and neighboring West African countries.

A Senior Engineer based in the Denver office, Jeffrey is a registered professional engineer with 10 years of consulting experience in civil and geotechnical engineering. He has a doctorate degree in civil engineering from the University of Colorado, a major “Research One” university. He specializes in the characterization and modeling of the consolidation of soft soils, such as mine tailings, which undergo considerable strain during the consolidation process. He has worked on geotechnical analysis and design for tailings facilities, heap leach facilities, and waste rock facilities for mining projects in North and South America and Africa.

With an office in Accra, Knight Piésold Ghana is celebrating its 20th year of operations. It has grown into a recognized consultancy, with over 40 engineers, environmental scientists, and soils laboratory technicians supporting a significant number of mining companies in Ghana and neighboring countries. It began its Schools Initiative Program four years ago and has been hosting various activities annually to educate high school students on practical engineering applications.
