June 7, 2019, Denver, CO, USA – Mariel Quevedo has joined Knight Piésold USA as senior geotechnical engineer and project manager to support clients in the mining, water resources, and hydropower industries. 

Quevedo has more than 20 years of consulting and government engineering experience, with expertise spanning geotechnical engineering, dam safety inspection and risk analysis, laboratory testing, field exploration, and project management. She has completed various geotechnical analyses for the solution of a wide variety of challenges relating to the design, construction, operation, and rehabilitation of tailings dams; embankment dams and reservoirs; canals and levees; and various concrete and underground structures. She graduated cum laude from the University of Missouri-Rolla (now the Missouri University of Science and Technology) with a master’s degree in geotechnical engineering. She earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Puerto Rico.

Quevedo joins Knight Piésold in Denver, Colorado from the Bureau of Reclamation (U.S. Department of the Interior), where she spent nearly five years as a geotechnical engineer, focusing on the detailed planning, development, and completion of geotechnical design and analysis projects for embankment dams, earth fill structures, and structure foundations. Prior to that, she held senior positions at consulting companies, managing various geotechnical assignments relating to earth and rockfill dams, dry stack mine facilities, tailings facilities, stormwater collection ponds, seepage collection and evaporation ponds, and low- and high-rise structures.
