June 29, 2017, Johannesburg, South Africa – The Lords View Industrial Park won the Overall Transformation Award for converting a barren area into a sustainable green development. The award was presented at the annual South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA) Innovative Excellence in Property Development Awards held in Cape Town, South Africa on June 22, 2017.
The Lords View Industrial Park is situated in Chloorkop, Gauteng. Tjaart van der Walt, principal technologist based in Knight Piésold’s Johannesburg office, was the project manager and contract engineer for the project, and has been involved with the project since 2013.
The developer, Lord Trust Developers, bought the land as an old sand quarry with the dream of transforming it into one of the most sought after developments in the area. Construction on the first earthworks package commenced in late 2012 and the most recent civils contract was completed in March 2017. In the development of the industrial park, 1,847,600 m³ of material was moved in the various earthworks contracts to transform the sand quarry area into the industrial park. The existing dams created from the sand quarry were transformed into four attenuation dams to create a centre attenuation facility for the development.
Knight Piésold South Africa was involved in the implementation and supervision of the civil services contract for Phases 4 and 5, which was completed in March 2017.
